I run filmsonfreeview.com, and I thought I'd drop a note saying this is now the official forum for the site, so please, any comments are most, most welcome. A surge in development is right around the corner and user input would be lovely. Especially replies in this thread, as I'll get an email notifying me. Registration is free and very quick, if you're just visiting from my site. Thanks, George _________________ Don't pay to watch movies! Hello there, I've just had a look around the site... it's fantastic! Easy and sensible to navigate and I really love the "Smart Views". It's gone straight into my bookmarks as I reckon this is essential reading for those with a PVR with some space left on it!
Well done. |

Hi ocelot, thanks 'elot' for your comment............ I'll get me coat Glad you like the site, and yeah it's certainly helped me fill up my Thomson - I'm still clearing a backlog of excellent films on at xmas.
Chris6, glad you like it too - any suggestions for making the 'week at a glance' view better? It was a rush job but I'm finding it to be the first thing I go on now when I use the site. _________________ Don't pay to watch movies! Larger text for the full list would be welcome, and it's a lot to ask but would a list for 2 weeks be feasible? Heaven knows how you keep it all up to date but many thanks again |

Can't really extend past a week at the present; would be good though, I agree.
About the larger text, I'll see about extending the width of the tables and maybe increasing the font size and generally improve the readability when I get a chance.
I wonder if maybe a Director column would be useful as well, but perhaps that's a lot of clutter without much benefit to most people.
The background seems to be broken at the moment, but so is my pc, so not sure I can fix it right now. _________________ Don't pay to watch movies! Okay, I've changed the look of the At A Glance page, so if I'm as awesomely talented as I think I am, it should be a lot easier on the eyes. The text is bigger, the table is wider, the colour scheme is in keeping with the rest of the site, the headings are clearer and the text is centered to be easier to scan quickly. Thanks for the suggestions chaps. _________________ Don't pay to watch movies! Nice work!
I have used this many times for finding films.
Pipedreambomb, have you thought about optimising your site for iPhone/iPod touch users? _________________

lstar337, I'm glad you're finding filmsonfreeview helpful. I hadn''t thought about iPhone users specifically (I just checked and they make less than 1% of my visitors) but it does tie in with what I was reading yesterday about end usage of RSS feeds [mashable.com]. It's not so much that having a good RSS [wikipedia.org] feed means a lot of people of people will be checking it out in Google Reader, etc - they won't - but your content can find itself in lots of other places. A good example of this would be as a gadget on someone's iGoogle homepage, or their iPhone!
I'm going to be rolling out a much improved daily RSS feed that I created yesterday with the impressive Feed43 [feed43.com], which you'd be able to subscribe to and get daily film updates on your iPhone. There is one on there currently, but it barely works. I'm going to see about maybe turning the new feed into a widget people can also use on their personal web pages too. I don't know if iPhone users typically use their phone's feed reader or if they have something similar to a widget system or anything, but it's probably a lot less work than optimizing the site for a device I don't have access to _________________ Don't pay to watch movies! I only asked because I don't start up a PC just to find out what films are on, but it is easy to do it with my iPod Touch when I am in the front room. _________________

The domain expired on 21st July.
Is this site likely to return? It was really good. |
